Final Thoughts

After over a year, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 version 1607 on April 10.

While the latest versions of Windows 10, like the Creators Update and Fall Creators Update, will continue to receive monthly security updates, devices running version 1607 won’t.

This change results from two extensions that Microsoft granted to version 1607 last year.

While this means that consumers running version 1607 won’t be able to receive monthly security updates, it does give enterprises and other users more time to defer updates when they want. These update deferral options are available through management tools, such as Windows Server Update Services or System Center Configuration Manager.
